About us
IRIS LAB is a Research and Development Consortium devoted peculiarly to innovative technologies in the field of electronic converters and next-generation industrial electric drives.
We serve the technological development of Consortium members by fostering, more generally, theevolution of the industry in mechatronics.
Our identity revolves around 6 essential points:
- Vast experience in latest generation, digital and smart electric drives
- Excellence in applied research
- Advanced infrastructure and labs
- Highly industry-oriented activity
- Creation of a collaborative network between companies, universities and research centres
- Contribution to the development of Industry 5.0 and the digitisation of production processes
The IRIS LAB Consortium is recognised as a research organisation by the Steering and Coordination Committee for Statistical Information (Comstat), which testifies to our ongoing commitment to the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and innovation
Partners
An original and propositional approach
Our mission is to be an international reference in the field of industrial electric drives serving advanced mechatronics and industrial manufacturing. An engineering partner oriented to shared innovation smart manufacturing 5.0.
At the core of the vision we place the use of the latest technologies on static energy conversion, electric motors, control systems and optimized integration of electric drives. Our perspective is based onefficiency, flexibility andincreasing the competitiveness of Consortium members to make manufacturing increasingly digital and sustainable, with a view to internalizing part of the production chain, leading companies to produce complete and modular systems with high added value.
A look at industrial innovation
Interview with Giuseppe Tomasso
In this interview, Giuseppe Tomasso shares his perspective on the role of technological innovation in industrial development, with a particular focus on electric drives and the ongoing transformations within the energy transition.
A contribution that reinforces IRIS LAB’s vision as a bridge between research, industry, and real-world application.
IRIS LAB Committees
IRIS LAB is supported by two Committees that work in synergy to guide the Consortium’s scientific and industrial development: the Technical Scientific Committee, composed of universities and academic institutions, and the Research and Innovation Committee, composed of companies and industrial partners. Among their main objectives are:
- encouraging technology transfer and facilitating interaction between the world of academia and IRIS LAB, including for specific research and development activities;
- propose IRIS LAB opportunities for innovation, leading analysis and specific forms of know-how in the field of industrial electric drives and Industrial IoT;
support university spin-offs and innovative start-ups; - promoting internships and apprenticeships for students, recent graduates, PhD students and university researchers;
- incentivising and sponsoring activities which promote interaction between the world of academia and IRIS LAB.
The Committees’ primary task is to study and propose research, innovation, internationalisation and business development projects of specific interest to Consortium members
